Thrown Stones At Glass Hearts 1
Note: I didn't make up the title, Brittany [ilovebdenurie] did. She's a genius I know!
Chapter 1
I looked out the window to see a cloudless day in
I felt the floor tremble, I had felt that before. I quickly realized it was the same feeling as when his fiancée showed up, but right now it was just the plane landing. That was one of the main reasons I didn’t like planes. I looked outside again and saw the place which was once my home, the place where I lost myself. I promised myself I would never come back, but I also said I wouldn’t think of him; I did both.
As soon as I got my bags, I walked out into the cool, crisp air of
“Hi William”
“We’re home!” My mom said as we put some boxes inside or new house of
“Oh don’t be so sour, Catherine” She put her hands on her tiny waist.
“I didn’t want to come here. Remember?” I snapped at her.
“Cat, this was for the best”
“You mean this was for your best!” I yelled.
“Cat…”
“Don’t Cat me. I’m going out” I stormed out.
It was her fault I was miserable. I had left the beautiful sunny beaches of SoCal, just so we could be “together”. I was even angrier that I didn’t get to finish the semester back there, so I would have to start all over again here. I wasn’t a very social person though, so friends weren’t a complication; I wondered if I’ll end up with friends here. As I was walking through the crowded sidewalks I thought about reinventing myself. Maybe this change wasn’t bad after all…
Suddenly I crashed onto someone; I hit the ground very hard. “I’m so sorry!” A guy with longish, brown hair helped me up. “It’s okay” I grasped his shoulder so I wouldn’t fall down, I felt very dizzy. “My name’s William by the way” He said in a soothing voice. I was dazzled by his perfect face; smooth skin, big brown eyes and perfect white smile.
“I’m Catherine, or Cat” I tried to smile the way he did. I failed.
“Uh you must’ve hit your head pretty hard. Why don’t you join me and go to Starbucks with me.”
“Sure!” I immediately said and smiled once again.
William opened the door for me. The air smelled like fresh brewed coffee; one of my favorite scents. His hand lightly brushed against mine, I tried to hide my flushed face. “Would you like something?” He asked. “No thank you” I answered. “Well in that case, let’s just sit down” William gripped my hand. I immediately backed away from him when I realized what he did. “I don’t know you” I said automatically. He studied my reaction quizzically.
“I’m sorry, I just don’t feel comfortable around strangers” I said
“Well, we’ve got a lot of time to know more about each other. Don’t we?”
“Hey Catherine”
I just wanted to kiss him and tell him how much I loved him. Instead I forced half a smile. “Let me take this” William picked up my large suitcase. Before I got inside his Volvo I reminded myself that I didn’t love him anymore, I took a deep breath and closed the door. I looked up to his sad eyes, but quickly looked away, I couldn’t resist feeling a bit guilty. This was going to be harder than I thought…
